A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

Loved the sights we viewed and the places we visited but the traffic is horrendous and the lack of free parking obvious plus being too expensive but in saying that most drivers were courteous. Food choices were in abundance whereever you went to suit anyones palate with prices depending on what you were looking for and we will definitely be back sooner than later Cheers.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Lume to see the Da Vinci Exhibition. Found the public transport very efficient and also used the Heritage Tram to complete the Circle Line trip.
The trip from SA was arranged to see the musical "Sunet Boulevard" a show which we were very pleased to have made the effort to see.

Staying in the centre of Melbourne is good to be able to walk around and see the many parts of Central Melbourne and visit galleries and museums and shops etc. Trams and/or buses are great for getting you around and out further to some areas. We recommend visiting Lygon Street for the many eateries on offer. Como House is interesting to visit, so ensure you go on a tour day as the inside is the really interesting part and you can't access it unless on a tour. There are lots of choices of what to do and see in Melbourne, so allow yourself plenty of time to see things, but also to enjoy the ambience of sitting at a cafe and sipping on a cappuccino too.

We brought our granddaughter to Melbourne for a special holiday for her 8th birthday.
Did the things she wanted to do and they exceeded expectations. Went to the Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium, Legoland, Melbourne Museum. We had a wonderful holiday. We ate at various places and did a lot of shopping.
Melbourne is such a great place. New and old blend together well.
Taxi drivers were friendly and courteous and some of them were very informative about locations and places to go.

Great city to visit. Plenty to do and see.
Great city to visit. Plenty to do and see.
But budget beforehand! Lots of tours etc are quite expensive so you have to pick and choose your top deals.
Public transport is great and also reasonable cost. CBD trams good.
But getting to some of the out of the way places like Phillip Island are lengthy and inconvenient. So kind of forced to choose tours.
Restaurants aplenty. Great eating all over the city.
We visited the zoo, museum, art gallery, Sea Life, Library, markets...
Sea Life slightly underwhelming for the price. But if you've never been to something like that before it would be good. Zoo free for kids in the weekend. Museum is great. Library awesome for architecture and design. Shopping malls great but confusing layouts.

We liked the proximity to where we needed to go the and the yiew was very good also the staff were very friendly and helpful
Only had one concern there was no in room snack bar so I rang front desk and they said they don’t have that anymore yet when I was checking out I was asked if we had used anything from the in room snack bar of course I said no as nothing was there
CBD Empire Apartments was perfect for our group of three. The location of the apartments was perfect, a short walk from Melbourne Central and other convenience shops. The layout of the apartment was accommodating, there was enough space in the main living room and a nice view from the balcony. The pool area on the 31st floor was also great, there are two unisex bathrooms, potentially more in the Gym area which we didn't use.
The location is excellent, near Southern Cross and it's also within the free tram zone line in Melbourne CBD. Very easy to navigate. The facilities and the rooms are clean. They have a locker storage for travelers who arrived earlier than their check-in time or for those who have to check-out a tad bit earlier and have to leave their stuff in one place. Staff is friendly and accommodating too.
The apartment is pretty decent and near from the CBD. A walk away from the tram station, so it is convenient to travel within the city. A walk away from hospitals and The University of Melbourne. The surroundings was calm and peaceful compared tp the busy CBD. The staffs was very lovely and helpful during our stay.
Location is amazing to Melbourne’s CBD, public transport & Southbank. Their quick resolve to make good on our booking when they first informed us the hotel was at capacity and our bedding configuration wasn’t available. After a few minutes we miraculously had the room we had booked. Beds and pillows were comfy.
The proximity of these apartments to both the pleasures of Southbank and South Melbourne, as well as having super easy access to the CBD and Docklands is wonderful. It's great to have cooking facilities. Also, I had a minor emergency at 1:00am and they had help to me within 20 minutes - it was fabulous.
Crown Metropol is always my first choice. We love spending time in Melbourne and it’s location helps us to easily walk to docklands, Southbank or into the heart of the city. If you don’t want to venture out to much the hotel has an amazing swimming pool and the room service is fantastic.
Enjoyed the overnight stay at this hotel. Good location (except City Rd is probably the worst road in the greater Melbourne CBD - but that isnt the hotel's fault!) comfy room, good price and a short walk to a lot of the things you want to do in Melbourne. Would highly recommend.
Very central, easy to get around Melbourne CBD from the hotel. Check-in/out process was flawless the staff was very professional. The room had a nice view of the city. Unlike other reviews, I'd say our room was pretty spacious. It was super clean and very comfortable.
Highly Recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I myself will be staying here for my future visits to Melb CBD. I now wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of the Dorsett hotels in other Cities. Classy boutique hotel. Location, public transport availability, local restaurants and wine bars.
We really enjoyed the hotel, as it was located within the CBD of Melbourne. It is also strategically positioned close to the airport bus terminals and the free tram zones. Facilities such as the saunas and swimming from the hotels were great for end the night!
The room is not spacious. Hotel location in the city center. Very close to the CBD area, Chinatown, etc. Included in the free tram zone.
For purposes from / to the airport, it is very close to the Sky Bus stop (around 200 meters, walking distance).
Modern, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The hotel is perfect for a stay near the Melbourne CBD. Easy walk to Southbank and the southern end of the CBD. I was really impressed with my stay here, and all staff I spoke to were very helpful.
Amazing hotel in the CBD of melbourne. Short walk to everything including malls, Southbank, DFO. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was amazing, great views, very spacious and comfy bed.
The view from the apartment and the location of the property are amazing. The apartment located in the center of of Melbourne CBD and so close to all tourist attractions and shops.
Central location in Melbourne CBD - easily walkable to many sites & free tram access as well. Affordable suite with good kitchen facilities. Well maintained and friendly staff.
