Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.
The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly colored shops and restaurants.
Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which has an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.
Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.
Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

I loved the hop on and off tour bus which we took up to salthill and back. The whole journey was narated, history unfolded I loved the traditional music in Taffees. We didn't have a bad meal wherever went . The architecture and history of galway is both beautiful and amazing. Our hotel was right next to the main train and bus station so ready access to main routes to airports and ferries etc. Local buses make getting around Galway very easy

We prefered to eat and drink in the West End and stayed clear of Shop Street other than when we hit the artists market where we could get locally made stuff. We had great food at Universal and grabbed drinks at the Bierhaus. We listened to fabulous music at the Crane- go for the experience (go upstairs) if nothing else! If you want to go to the Aran Islands, I recommend the Aran Island Ferries. They leave right from Galway Docks and take you to Inishmore. You get about 4 hours on the island (enough to take a horse and cart (a must!) to Dun Aonghasa and back but not much else) then it picks you up and returns via the Cliffs of Mohr. If you want longer or want a different island you'll have to go to one of the other ports (Doolin or Rossaveel) that will take you a while to get to. The weather was incredible, so we were outside the whole time and walked on the promendade to Salthill each night. We didn't have a car- the traffic was pretty heavy, so I was very glad we were on foot. If you do have a car, I would recommend parking at wherever you are staying and walking everywhere else if possible. If we had more time we would have ventured to Spiddal and to Connemara National Park, but we felt we had enough time to see Galway itself.

I found the hotel great.
I found the hotel great. It was 10 min drive to city center for shopping cafe and pubs. And salthill beach was 10min drive also.
Great location to be able to do a range of activities for couples or families
The hotel was great very child friendly
The heated pool and spa area was so great- just what we needed after a long day of travel.
The decor is great around the hotel. The room well designed- the Bluetooth speaker and robes were a welcome touch.
The bed was very comfortable and cosy (note we upgraded to a king size bed which was 2 beds pushed together. Not an issue for us but might be for some people).
Breakfast was delicious and staff so friendly.
Location is close to the city center while avoiding the noise!
The rooms are small, but comfortable and clear. The shared kitchen facilities are also great, which made breakfast prep quite a bit easier. It's a nice, quiet location outside of the city center. We've stayed at other dorms in Ireland, but this is the best one we stayed in by far, as this one was quiet and great for sleeping after long days of travel, tours, and hiking.
Our family room was large enough to accommodate all of us, but space was a bit limited overall. The city center is within walking distance and breakfast alternatives and dinner options are even closer, so the location is great. The breakfast served at the hotel is standard, good but not outstanding. The room was spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and helpful.
Temperature in the room and throughout hotel was perfect, never got that stuffy, too warm feeling. Very clean everywhere and could see the effort they went to in order to keep it clean and in line with covid policy. Staff all friendly and helpful. Location is easy to use as a base for travelling to Salthill / city centre and other areas of rural Galway.
clean rooms and hotel and perfect location in the city. Olga the waitress / barmaid was AMAZING! she is so friendly and made us feel very welcome and it was the 2nd time we have seen her there as we travel to ireland regularly. She needs a promotion and a pay rise and we cannot wait to see her next time. She is the best reason to visit this hotel!
I felt like I was a guest in someone's home. It was very warm and homey. Theresa, the host, was very kind and very accommodating. At one point, we needed nail clippers and she was able to get us some! Plus, the location was great. We parked our rental car on property and would walk into the city centre of Galway.
Super comfortable bedrooms with everything what we needed. The personal was unbelievable friendly and the breakfast one of the best I had in Ireland. The Location is close to the city center and it is possible to use the good public transport system. A station is near by.
A few staff members were very polite, they provided an extra duvet and a radiator for the room. However, other staff members were unfriendly and didn’t even apologize for the inconveniences caused. One benefit of the hotel is a location in the city center.
This was the best hotel I stayed in in Ireland. Clean room. Comfy beds. Immaculate bathroom, desks and wardrobe.. Location to Galway was fantastic. Staff were great and the hotel restaraunt/bar was excellent. The only hotel that made my mother happy.
10 min walk into the city centre and lovely location with everything you need on your doorstep Frank the owner is a gentleman and couldn't do enough the rooms are immaculate I'd give 5 stars for your value for money in the best city in Ireland
View of the bay was magnificent and staff were excellent. The swimming pool is awesome, 25m with other excellent fitness facilities. Parking was convenient and plentiful. Best hotel we stayed in on our short tour of Ireland.
The apartment was spacious for four. It was walking distance to the city centre. There’s also a grocery store about 500 m away. There’s also a “magic” mirror that makes you look slim with long legs😜
Great location near the city centre, only a short walk. Lovely hotel with very comfortable rooms. Food is lovely with a good choice on the menu. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The breakfast was fantastic! Location was really greta for us. There are a public bus stop front of the hotel will connect you through the city center. Room was perfect
Great location in Galway city centre and with secure parking. The lobby/bar/bistro are spacious and well appointed. Breakfast was very good. The bed was comfortable
